CPL that stands for Caribbean Premier League (abbreviated to CPLT20) is a yearly Twenty20 cricket league held in the Caribbean. CPL was created in the year 2013 and replaced Caribbean Twenty20 as a premier 20-20 competition in the islands of the Caribbean. This cpl 2020 schedule and time league is presently sponsored by the Hero MotoCorp and thus officially named as “Hero CPL.”

As mentioned, this league happens every year, and in the inaugural tournament that was played back in 2013 was won by Jamaica Tallawahs after defeated Guyana Warriors in the finale.

Format

CPL T20 league is played between 6 teams and is further divided into the group stage and the knockout stage. In a group stage, each team gets to play 10 matches, 3 of which are played right at home. 6 stadiums are generally used, each at the home field for 1 of the teams. And, the playoff stage consists of two semi-finals followed by a final to get the winner of the league. All 3 of the eliminations playoff will be mostly played at Brian Lara Stadium & Queen’s Park Oval.

Players From All Cricketing Nation

In this mega event, players from all the cricket playing nations participate and make a huge sum of money in the form of salary. The auction takes place before the tournament where the team owners go in the auction after planning and making a lot of strategies to get the top-level player in their team. So that team stays strong and they have their bases covered.

Final Words

Well, the Chief Operating Officer, Pete Russel of the Caribbean Premier League thinks that CPL is right there as the second-best 20-20 League across the world after IPL. And there’s no issue with that but if you go by stats, Big Bash and PSL are right there to compete. For cpl 2020 schedule and time, you may visit the official site of CPL.
